Journey by car to Stöten

For those of you travelling by car from Stockholm, here are three alternative routes. We recommend Vasaloppsvägen instead of going over Älvdalen because the last bit consists of smaller gravel roads.

  • Option 1: Stockholm- Uppsala-Gävle-Falun-Rättvik-Mora-Vasaloppsvägen-Sälen. 47 miles (6 h 24 min)
  • Option 2: Stockholm-Enköping-Sala-Borlänge-Leksand-Rättvik-Mora-Vasaloppsvägen-Sälen. 44.3 miles (6 h 36 min)
  • Option 3: Stockholm-Enköping-Västerås-Fagersta-Ludvika-Vansbro-Malung-Sälen. 45.2 miles (6 h 24 min)

Those coming from Gothenburg have the following options:

  • Option 1: Gothenburg-Oslo-Elverum-Sälen. 52.8 miles (5 h 50 min)
  • Option 2: Gothenburg-Trollhättan-Åmål-Torsby-Sälen. 49.5 miles (7 h 20 min)

Travel by bus to Stöten

Take the train to Stöten

If you want to take the train to Sälen, the easiest way is to go to Mora station. From there, take the bus all the way to Stöten. Read more and book at SJ's website.

Flights to Stöten

Thanks to the newly built Scandinavian Mountains Airport (SCR) in Sälen, you can now land just 15 minutes from Sälen's best skiing in Stöten. If you need help with your transfer, just let us know, we'll organise it!
