Things to do this summer with children
Summer is really for spending time with the kids. Enjoy the never-ending bright days and fill your summer holidays with activities for the whole family! In this article, we share summer tips that are suitable for all families with children.
Bring the kids to Sälen - it will be a summer to remember
Planning a Sälen summer with the kids? Sälen in summer is both magnificent and hard to beat. We have previously recommended fun summer activities that you can do with us in Stöten in Sälen. We thought we'd continue in that vein, but now with an extra focus on activities that the kids will talk about for a long time afterwards! Here are our top tips for a memorable summer in Sälen.
Tip #1: Hike in Trollskogen on Hundfjället. A day trip suitable for the whole family, young and old! The short walk takes you into the primeval forest where all the trolls live. There is endless fun to be had and trolls to watch.
Tip #2: Adventure swimming and surfing at Experium. For rainy days, there's nothing better than a visit to Experium in Lindvallen. The adventure pool is packed with fast-paced water slides, relaxing whirlpools, cool indoor surf, warm outdoor pool and everything you need for the whole family to have fun!
Tip #3: Sweden's highest waterfall. At 93 metres, Njupeskär's waterfall is the highest in Sweden. It's about 8 miles from Stöten and the waterfall is easy to get to from the car park for all ages. The 2 km long tracked and graveled hiking trail to the waterfall makes it a perfect destination for all nature explorers, young and old!
Tip #4: Lindvallens Fädbod. The whole family can cuddle up with the horses, pigs, rabbits and the extremely funny goats that are guaranteed to charm you all. Fill hungry bellies with freshly baked waffles in the summer summer and cool off with a delicious ice cream for dessert.
Tips #5: Adrenaline rush on the high altitude track. Are you a family that likes adrenaline? Then the high-altitude course located right next to Lindvallen is the perfect option for you! Here you can try the exciting combination of climbing, sport, play and adventure that takes place high above the ground. A different and exciting activity for everyone over 12 years old. In the same area, there is a pumptrack track for bicycles that is appreciated by both young and old.
Tips #6: Make your own ice cream. During the hot summer months, there's nothing better than cooling off with a homemade popsicle! Freeze soft drinks or juices in popsicle moulds to be enjoyed a few hours later in the warm summer sun. Or why not mix fruit and berries with yoghurt for a creamier, more 'sorbety' version?
Whether you're looking for peaceful nature experiences or adrenaline-fuelled activities, you'll find what you're looking for in Sälen this summer!
Tips #7: Challenge each other in kubb. The summer classic cube never gets old and the game works for the whole family. Challenge each other and choose the best cube player in the family!
Tip #8: Cycle along cosy trails in the forest or, for the brave, try downhill cycling. In the Sälen mountains there are well-marked cycle routes for all cyclists - big and small, beginners and advanced cyclists. Whether you prefer classic road cycling, cross country in the forest or downhill in the mountains, there are challenges to suit you.
Tip #9: Hike with magnificent views of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. Hiking in Sälen during the summer is always a good idea, especially if you have children with you. Try hiking in the mountains at its best, you choose whether you want to do a day trip or, for the real nature lover, hike for several days and camp in the mountains.

We've said it before and we'll say it again - a summer in Sälen is both magnificent and hard to beat! In the heart of Sweden, the mountainous nature is just as breathtaking in summer as in winter.
