Team building activities that bring the group together
Whether you are a group that has been hanging out together for a while, or if the group is completely new to each other, team building activities are always a good idea! In this article, you will find tips on how to bring your group together.
How to succeed with your team building
The basis of all team building activities is that they should be suitable for the whole group. The aim is that the activities will help to create a stronger sense of team spirit and also teach the group how best to work together. In short, team building activities should help the group feel more comfortable together and develop as a team.
As the person in charge of your team building activities, you have a great responsibility. Everyone in the group should be seen and heard, and absolutely no one should feel left out. To help you out, we'd like to share some team building activities that are sure to bring the group together!
5 team building activities that bond the group
Below we list 5 activities that are sure to bring your group together.
Show your artistic side
Visit an art studio or decorate your office with easels. Buy acrylic paint, paint coats, brushes and palettes and let the whole group show their artistic side! Paint freely and use your imagination or follow a pre-determined theme. Get into the artistic mood with your favourite playlist and a drink!
Perfect for creative groups and can really be a lot of fun!
Boules tournament
For groups who like to compete and challenge each other, boules is the perfect activity. All you need is a couple of boules balls and a surface to be on. It's something everyone can learn - but very few have mastered the tactical and technical subtleties required to be really good.
Try out the escape room
If you haven't heard of an escape room before, it's about time. You book into the activity to get locked in a room and then have to work together as a team to get out. Using each other's creativity, you'll help each other solve clues, find hidden keys and solve puzzles.
This activity is guaranteed to be a talking point for a long time to come, whether you make it out or not! What's more, you'll learn how to work together.
Quizzes and quizzes
Who is the most educated person in the office? The internet is full of ready-made quizzes. But why not create your own quiz? Maybe about your colleagues so you can get to know each other better.
Position unknown
Giving and taking information may sound very simple, but it is very demanding. This team building activity is a team competition to move from one position to another. For teams to succeed, well thought-out communication strategies are required.
The way it works is that teams are in one location and are guided to different locations by a guide. To help them, teams can use a COM radio or mobile phone to make calls (to the guide), photographs, clues and a map. The only rule is that no place or street names may be mentioned during the game.
Instead, the guide should help the teams to get to different places where there are clues about where to go next. Why not guide them to take a bus, leave clues at a shop and let the final stop be at a restaurant?
This is a real team building activity and you will certainly develop your way of communicating!
To summarise
To succeed with your team building activities, you need 3 main points: commitment, fun activities for everyone and that the activities are actually stimulating for the group.
