Mountain etiquette and behaviour
Keep in mind that...
- ... let someone know before you set off! Mobile phone coverage can vary in the mountains, and in the unlikely event of an accident, it is important that someone knows at least approximately where you are.
- ... only follow marked trails! This is of course important from a safety point of view, but also beneficial when you want to find the best viewpoints.
- ... dress for the weather! Always check the weather forecast before you set out. In the mountains, the weather can change quickly so make sure you are prepared for any weather changes during your trip.
- ... have the right equipment! For example, always wear a helmet and protection when cycling. If you're hiking, make sure you have a map and compass with you - you never know if your mobile phone will go dead or get discharged.
- ... bring extra food and water! Energy consumption is particularly high when travelling in the mountains and it is better to be on the safe side when it comes to energy provisions.
- ... always pick up rubbish after yourself! Take care of our beautiful mountains. A good attitude is to always leave the mountain a little nicer than when you arrived.
