How to build an obstacle course in the snow
When the snow finally falls to the ground and forms a white sparkling blanket, it's time to challenge each other to some fun winter games. And what better way than to build an obstacle course in the snow? In this article, we share our top tips on how to build a snow obstacle course that the whole family can enjoy!
The only limit is your imagination!
What should an obstacle course contain?
An obstacle course consists of a limited number of obstacles that all participants should be able to overcome. It is important that the difficulty of the course is adapted to the abilities and wishes of the participants. The great thing about obstacle courses is that they can be done indoors, outdoors in winter and in summer.
An obstacle course can challenge participants' exercise, fitness, motor skills, endurance and thinking skills, for example. Participants get to use their whole body and the sky's the limit when it comes to what an obstacle course can contain. For example, below we list a handful of different options for stations that you can include in your obstacle course:
- Getting over something
- Getting under something
- Balancing on something
- Hanging on to something
- Solving a problem
- To perform a task
How to build the obstacle course
Most of us may have built an obstacle course at home in the kitchen, or in PEsalen at school. But how many of us have actually built one in the snow?
That's why we've listed below 8 fun and challenging obstacles that you can use in your obstacle course:
- Getting over a snow pile
- Sledging down a snow pile
- Getting through a snow cave
- Balance on a snowshoe, forwards or backwards
- Throwing snowballs into a bucket
- Make a snow wall that you will jump/climb over
- Build a tall snow tower
- Draw out rings in the snow that you can jump through with your feet
When you finally manage to get through the obstacle course, you will surely be both exhausted, happy and hungry for coffee. And rightly so, of course! It is very hard to get through an obstacle course in the snow and you have really earned a cup of hot chocolate and some coffee.
Then it's just a matter of continuing to challenge each other, for example, who can get through the entire obstacle course in the shortest time?
Hopefully you are now as excited as we are to get outside in the lovely winter weather!
