Torsten's restaurant - classic dishes in an exclusive setting

The newly opened Torstens restaurant i Ski Lodge Soltorget has quickly become a favourite with guests in Stöten. Here you can enjoy well-prepared à la carte dishes, day or night, in a cosy environment with open and airy spaces. For those who want to put the icing on the cake in the evening, there are also good and tasty cocktails on the menu.

Authentic mountain food in Sälen

Trying real locally produced mountain food is a must when visiting Sälen. In addition to the classic mountain favourite freshly baked waffles With jam and whipped cream (not to be missed!), there are several local dishes that you should try during your stay to get a true experience of the Swedish mountains.

Fjällkåtan in Stöten - cosy fondue evenings in Sweden's largest mountain tipi

During the day, delicious lunches, coffee and freshly baked waffles are served in the cosy restaurant Fjällkåtan, located in the centre of the slope. You can easily glide all the way to the door and park your skis in the ski racks outside. As the name suggests, the restaurant is located in a large mountain hut - the largest in Sweden.

Food made from carefully selected ingredients that tickle the taste buds in the best possible way

As the evening darkness descends over the mountain, the tent-like space is transformed into a cosy fondue restaurant for a unique dining experience. Guests are transported by snowmobile up to Fjällkåtan where a magical fondue dinner awaits. Here you prepare the food you want to enjoy in a fondue pot with hot oil that is placed on the table. Of course, there's also chocolate fondue with fruit for dessert to top off an already maximised evening. It's a unique and authentic mountain experience you won't want to miss! Afterski in Sälen - a must during your mountain holiday

If you are visiting the Swedish mountains après-ski almost a must! Boot dancing, live music and a cold beer or two have become almost synonymous with mountain holidays in Sälen and you don't want to miss out. In Stöten in Sälen you can enjoy lively après-ski every day - the perfect way to end a full day on the slopes before it's time for dinner and cosiness in the chalet. Every week, different bands and troubadours play live, which is guaranteed to raise the mood even further! And as spring approaches and the sun starts to peek out from behind the mountains in the afternoon, afterski moves to Brewery cosy outdoor seating area.

Specialities from Austria and Hungary with a Swedish twist

Although the popular schnitzel originated in Austria, it has become something of a local celebrity in Stöten. Restaurant Ladan at Stötentorget serves the classic dish of pork, potatoes, green peas and lemon and is definitely worth trying during your visit to Sälen. The same restaurant serves the Hungarian speciality goulash soup, which has also become a classic in the mountains. The stew-like meat soup is perfect for warming up on the coldest days of winter and is guaranteed to satisfy your hunger.

Did you know that...

... the name Torsten comes from one of Stöten i Sälen's founders, Torsten Widing? The then hotel manager was a visionary who in the 1970s thought that the Sälen mountains needed more challenging skiing with longer and steeper slopes. Together with his partner Bertil Lind (who also has a restaurant named after it after him), he opened the ski centre that is now Stöten in Sälen.
