Good food on skiing holidays
Good, energy-rich food is super important to keep you going on ski days - especially when travelling with children. To avoid grumpy faces and hangry company on holiday, we've listed our top tips for good food on skiing holidays.
Breakfast tips
The first meal of the day is perhaps the most important part of your skiing holiday. To get through a full day on the slopes, it's super important to get the right kind of energy in the morning. Oatmeal is a firm favourite among skiers - it keeps you full and keeps you going for a long time. With jam or fresh berries and milk, it's a real treat - and if you want to get really fancy, try overnight oats. Sandwiches, yoghurt with muesli and eggs in various forms also provide a good start to the ski day.

Lunch tips
Which lunch is best for you may depend mainly on whether you are going to eat your lunch in a restaurant on the slopes, as a packed lunch in a warming hut, or whether you are going home to the hut to cook lunch. In the spring, it's also nice to throw on something tasty on the barbecue during your lunch break - and the options are endless.
If you're going to splurge by eating in a restaurant, there's plenty to choose from, but of course we have to recommend the classic waffle. Crispy waffles with jam and cream have become almost synonymous with skiing holidays and are hard to beat. But to keep your energy levels up all day on the slopes, you might need something more. Here you can see all the restaurants that Stöten has to offer - there's something for all ages and tastes!
Lunch at home in the cottage
If you choose to slip home to the cottage during lunch, we recommend making lasagne in advance and reheating it. It can be varied in a thousand different ways and is usually almost tastier when reheated a few days after cooking. Serve with salad and you'll have the whole plate model in one go!
Have lunch on the slopes
To keep costs down during your holiday, many people choose to bring lunch to the slopes instead. In Stöten there are several warming huts where you can eat your packed lunch in peace and quiet. Pancakes are a big favourite, especially among our youngest guests. They are equally good hot or cold with jam and you don't need cutlery. Egg sandwiches and pasta salad are also great foods that don't require heating. If you prefer hot food, you can make goulash soup and store it in a thermos.
Towards the end of spring, when the temperatures rise and the sun starts to peek over the mountains, many people prefer to prepare their lunch at one of our barbecue areas around the resort. Classics such as sausages and burgers are perfect for a ski lunch - but why not try grilling salmon in a foil packet or skewers with vegetables and grilled oumi?

Dinner tips
If you do not wish to visit any of the Stöten's many restuarants after the ski day is over and you want to cook your dinner instead, the possibilities are endless. But don't mess it up! Large-scale cooking that lasts for several days is usually appreciated by tired parents who may not want to get up and cook every night. Classic pasta dishes such as spaghetti carbonara or spaghetti with meat sauce are always appreciated, as is homemade pizza that you simply bake in the oven. Tacos are also a firm favourite that can be varied endlessly. Besides the classic Friday taco, you can try taco pie, enchiladas in the oven or quesadillas.
After a long day on the slopes, many people find it unappealing to sit down in front of the stove and cook dinner. Luckily, several of Stöten's restaurants offer take-away and home delivery! Order your food easily in Stöten Food & Drinks app and you will be notified when the food is ready. It doesn't get any easier than that!
