Fun indoor activities for children
The vast majority of people who visit Stöten in Sälen do so because of our phenomenal skiing, but the fact is that we offer so much more than skiing. In Stöten, the fun doesn't stop just because the lifts have closed for the day. Here you can read about all the fun we have to offer indoors - perfect for kids with ski fatigue or when the weather isn't at its best.
#1 Enjoy cosiness and adventure in the Wolf Club
In the children's own club, Vargy Club, all kids between 3 and 8 years old can go on an adventure with the world's friendliest wolf - Vargy. You can also come here to relax and enjoy a cosy moment. Vargy, together with our trained staff, organises daily activities and games for all the children of Stöten. Why not relax on the sofa among all the cosy cushions and stroke Vargy's soft fur while you watch a film, read a book or do some crafts. Sometimes it even happens that there is a bun bake!
#3 Challenge each other to a bowling match
Take a break from your skates and jump into your bowling shoes! I Vattufjälls bowling centre you can challenge the family to a game of bowling - an activity suitable for the whole family. All lanes are equipped with bumpers so that even our youngest guests always hit the pins. In the evening, the hall changes shape and it's time for Nightbowl with disco lights and swinging music!
Enjoy both water play in the pool and relaxation in the sauna
#4 Enjoy bath time and sauna fun
After a long day on the slopes, children and adults alike could do with a change of scenery in the warmth. Take the family to Vattufjälls bathhouse where you can enjoy both water play in the pool and relaxation in the sauna. In addition to a swimming pool, there is also a smaller children's pool and a wonderfully warm whirlpool. If you're feeling peckish, there's a café right next door where you can buy light meals, sandwiches and coffee.
#5 Play hide and seek
The classic game that never goes out of style. If you're renting a larger cottage with lots of rooms and nooks and crannies, playing hide-and-seek is a great idea. Choose one person to start counting while the others hide. Whoever is found first gets to count next time. It's a fun and exciting game that also gets the legs moving.
#6 Make an obstacle course
Another timeless game is to build your own obstacle course from whatever you have on hand. Only your imagination sets the limits! You can either build an obstacle course that you then compete in with timing, or you can do it as a no-touching-the-floor game where you see who can make it through the course the longest without touching the floor.
#7 Play parlour games
If the kids are tired after a day of skiing and prefer something more relaxed, you can play a board game together. The possibilities are endless, from simple card games to advanced board games. It's the perfect way to look after each other and spend quality time with the whole family!
A fun activity for young and old alike
#8 Go on a treasure hunt
Another activity that is usually appreciated by children is a treasure hunt - you parents hide sweets, a small toy or similar somewhere in the cottage and draw a treasure map. Place clues and let the children follow the map to find the treasure. It's guaranteed to be a fun and easy indoor activity.
#9 Have a picnic in the living room
Another good tip is to organise a small picnic in the living room of your cottage. Put a blanket on the floor, prepare some snacks, food or fruit and then enjoy each other's company. Why not make it extra cosy by making a hut out of chairs and blankets? This is a quiet activity that is perfect for tired children (and parents).
