  • Children grow fast and equipment may not be suitable next season

Buying new, buying second-hand or renting ski equipment? What suits your family and your needs?

Buying equipment second-hand

Advantages of the programme

  • Good for the environment
  • Affordable
  • It doesn't matter if the equipment is only used once or a few times

Disadvantages

  • Can be difficult to find the right equipment in good condition
  • No guarantee if something happens

Renting equipment

Advantages of the programme

  • Cheaper than buying new if you're only going on a single trip - which can sometimes be the case with children
  • You'll be helped to find the perfect equipment by knowledgeable staff
  • Children grow quickly and change size often - if you hire equipment, you'll get items that are guaranteed to fit every year

Disadvantages

  • More expensive than buying new if you will travel several times a year
  • Can you be sure that the equipment your child needs is available? With the pre-booking of ski equipment this is not a problem!

3 tips for finding the right ski equipment for your child

Whether you choose to buy new, second-hand or hire ski equipment for your children, there are a few factors to bear in mind. Below, we share three simple tips to ensure that your children have the best possible experience with their slalom equipment.

Always buy a new ski helmet - for your child's safety!

  • The right size. It sounds like a no-brainer - but children can find it hard to decide for themselves whether a ski boot feels comfortable, the ski is too long or the helmet is too big. If it's hard to decide on your own, we recommend getting help from an expert, otherwise your day on the slopes might not turn out as you hoped.
  • Should you add insurance? Equipment can be broken, lost or even stolen. So consider whether you should insure your children's ski equipment. If you hire your equipment you can easily add insurance for a cheap price.
  • Invest in a brand new helmet. All equipment can be bought second-hand - except the helmet. A helmet that has been subjected to hard impacts is less likely to provide the protection it is intended for. So if we can only advise you to buy and If there's one new gadget, it's definitely the helmet. Safety always comes first!

We've now given you our top tips on slalom equipment for children. Hopefully, it's now a little easier to decide whether to buy new, second-hand or rented equipment.
