Packing for a mountain holiday with children

Spending time with each other, the fresh air of others, and brightening up your days with first-class skiing does something to the soul. It's also what makes a mountain holiday with the whole family so magical. What's not usually so magical, however, is the packing. So in this article, we thought we'd share our top tips for packing for a mountain holiday with kids!

Packing list for a mountain holiday with children

Packing for a mountain holiday with the whole family can be challenging to say the least. As the temperature is relatively low, it means that you have to pack a lot of clothes and equipment and you have limited space in the car.

Therefore, in order not to forget anything, it is best to follow a packing list. Below, we therefore share what we recommend families with children to take with them during their stay with us at Stöten in Sälen:

  • Underwear. Preferably two pieces each. These get damp easily, which can lead to you getting cold.
  • Mid-layers in the form of thinner trousers and jumpers. Materials such as fleece and wool are recommended. Here, too, it can be advantageous to bring double sets.
  • Lined outer garments. Jacket and trousers or even overalls for the children. It can also be advantageous to bring two sets for them. Playing in the snow and slipping on the slopes can cause the outerwear to get wet.
  • Thicker socks that can be used in ski boots. Wool socks are recommended.
  • Mittens. Preferably double sets, at least for the children.

Packing for a mountain holiday can be challenging, but with a good packing list it's easy!

  • Thinner caps that can be used under the helmet.
  • Sturdier hats that can be used when not skiing.
  • Scarf, alternatively collar or buff.
  • Waterproof winter boots.
  • Ordinary clothes that can be used in the cabin and for other activities.
  • Swimwear to enjoy baths and saunas in Vattufjäll.
  • Toiletries such as toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, etc.

If you are planning to bring your own ski equipment, it is also important to remember:

  • Slalom and/or cross-country skiing
  • Staves
  • Ski boots
  • Helmets
  • Glass eyes

However, to save space in your car, we recommend that you use our ski hire in Sälen. Here you'll find everything you could possibly need for successful days on the slopes. Everything from slalom and cross-country skis to snowboard equipment for young and old.
