Stötens Wall of Fame

Sweden's best ski resort 2021/2022

Stöten has once again been named Sweden's best ski resort by skidsiten Freerides readers! We also won the award for best ski resort for families with children and Sweden's best piste! Now the skiers have had their say - Stöten is simply the best!

With almost a quarter of all votes, 23.4 per cent, it was clear that Stöten is the given first choice when the country's ski enthusiasts get to say their say; Stöten is "Sweden's Best Ski Resort 2021/2022" on the ski site Freeride.se. But not only that! Freeride also crowns winners in more categories every year - prizes as heavy as thawing snow such as "Sweden's best ski resort for families with children" and "Sweden's best piste". And who won for the second year in a row - well, Stöten in Sälen!

Stöten has a large number of families with children as guests. And they have clearly not been disappointed. Of all those who voted in Freeride's competition to find the best ski resort for families with children, almost a quarter, 22.7 per cent, agree. Stöten is the best!

- We are delighted and touched by this award. We have invested heavily in families with children in recent years, including opening a brand new ski area with several kilometres of blue and green runs, which can be reached by Dalarna's fastest 6-chair lift, Vargy Express. We have also worked hard to ensure a high quality with a wide range and plenty of plastics in our ski school. Last but not least, we also invest heavily in ensuring that there is everything from creative activities in the Vargklubben to good meals for children in our restaurants. With us, it should be easy to be both a child and a parent. And this is proof that we have succeeded," says Johan Thorn, CEO of Stöten in Sälen AB.

A piste that is as much talked about as it is loved is undoubtedly the slope Älvan - Stöten's black pride that has long been talked about as one of Sweden's best. Something that was also confirmed just last year when Älvan won Freeride's "Best piste of the year" award.

But this year the descent, which starts from Sälenfjället's highest drop of 370 metres, is still the skiers' favourite. 30 per cent of all those who voted think that Älvan is the best piste in Sweden! The descent is not only long, varied and offers magnificent views of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. Älvan is actually also qualified for FIS GS, i.e. giant slalom, which this slope is alone in these latitudes.

So, for anyone thinking about a skiing holiday in Sweden, the choices are many. But when the skiers themselves have their say, the choice is obvious: if you are a family with children, want to ski Sweden's best piste or just generally want to go to Sweden's overall best ski resort in 2022 - then it is towards Stöten that you should head!

Ski resort of the year 2019

Stöten in Sälen was named SLAO Ski Resort of the Year!

For the second year in a row, we were nominated in SLAO's (Swedish Ski Resorts Organisation) award "Ski Resort of the Year" and in 2019 it was our turn to take home the honourable award.

Nomination

"As the northernmost resort in the Sälen mountains, Stöten is developing a little in the shadow of the other resorts in the area. Here, ambitious improvement work is being carried out, last year's major lift investment has been followed up this year with new fine slopes, better snow experiences and an impressive ski lodge. Without losing its soul, Stöten continues an exciting trajectory, largely thanks to dedicated employees and a high sense of service. Stöten is a fresh newcomer that makes skiing in the Sälen mountains even more attractive."

- We are proud, honoured and indescribably happy to be the ski resort of the year! In recent years, we have invested heavily and worked hard to develop the entire Stöten, which has produced many very positive results. Not least, we have our fantastic employees to thank! We have many who return year after year, which has given a genuine knowledge and knowledge of Stöten, which is well reflected in the service to guests. The fact that we are now officially named and awarded as the ski resort of the year is further proof of that, says Johan Thorn, CEO of Stöten in Sälen AB.
